On the PC there's a supporting app that provides a transparent overlay that lets him see sensor values and fine tune the behaviour. It also provides virtual buttons for flaps, gear etc he can use the eye tracker to activate.

After building joystick we set up Microsoft Flight Simulator 2020 on a PC, and then he uses VNC from his tablet which is supported by eye tracking.

The range of movement was about 5 degrees, but with averaging the ADXL345 sensors produce a pretty clean output.

Paralysed by ALS, but Flying (Models) Again With Aerotoe
I built a device for someone with ALS β he can no longer move his hands or arms, but he wanted to fly again.
Using an Arduino and a few sensors, I made it possible for him to control a flight simulator (and model aircraft!) with just tiny movements.
