A close-up of a replica version of one of the 13 hour clocks from Labyrinth. The clock resembles an antique clock with mother of pearl mosaic inlay, and faux brass trimmings. The clock is shown at sunrise, with warm pink and yellow lighting.
A prop replica of the first 13 hour clock shown in the Jim Henson film Labyrinth. A large wood antique clock with mother of pearl mosaic design and brass trimmings is shown hung from a tree. In the distant background is Jareth's Labyrinth, with his castle just peeking through the tree branches. The clock is shown at sunrise, with warm pink and yellow lighting.
I made a little miniature scene for the photoshoot of this prop, using fake branches/foliage that I got from the craft store. I also made the mistake of adding glitter to the scene, which has now spread to the rest of my house.

It's been a while since I made a brand new Labyrinth prop replica, but here it is: The first 13 hour clock that you see in the film. I made my version with laser cut/engraved wood, mother of pearl, vinyl, poster paper, and resin.

I'm definitely biased but I think Didymus is a great project for folks who aren't super crafty, so I totally believe you can make one!

Thanks (and apologies) to anyone who follows me for these tutorials, I wish I was faster at getting these out, but I hope the end result is at least worth the wait.

29.09.2025 02:03 โ ๐ 0 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0Thinkin' about how as a kid I first heard the word "Dink" from Sharon, Lois & Bram, and I didn't know what it was also slang for so I called my Uncle a dink and got in trouble for it all while not knowing WHY I was getting in trouble (I kept trying to explain "It's just a funny word in a song!").
29.09.2025 02:03 โ ๐ 1 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 1 ๐ 0An article from Smash Hits from December 1986, page 70. The article details ways to enter a raffle to win Jareth's horned mask from the film Labyrinth.
Yeah, that'd be incredible wouldn't it? You've reminded me how apparently Jareth's mask in Labyrinth was won by a fan in a raffle. I wonder if that fan still has it tucked away in a box in their basement somewhere?
24.09.2025 15:56 โ ๐ 1 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 1 ๐ 0I have to assume everything will be completely out of my price range, but I really hope that we get some really good reference photos of all these props. If fans can't own the actual prop, at least we can replicate them!
24.09.2025 15:18 โ ๐ 3 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 1 ๐ 0This is one of my very favorite images, as it features characters performed by Jim Henson throughout his life holding photos (or, in the case of Ernie, drawings) of him at about the period he was performing the character. Among the Muppets shown: Cantus, Dr. Teeth, the Swedish Chef, Sam, Link Hogthrob, Ernie, Kermit (two iterations), and Guy Smiley.
Jim Henson would've been 89 years old today. Commemorate his life and legacy by celebrating creativity, diversity, imagination, peace, and just plain silliness.
Walk with me a bit while I talk about Jim and his work--and leave your comments about what he means to you.
Right this way. /1
Don't beat yourself up about it too bad, we've all gotten got by something like that before! You gave someone the benefit of the doubt and they proved you wrong, that's not on you but on them for being the type of person that your good faith was wasted on.

17.09.2025 01:04 โ ๐ 4 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0A photo of a hand holding a small framed shield, like the kind used on antique clocks. The shield is made out of thin sheets of paper stacked on top of each other, with red body filler to smooth out the shape. In the background is a replica of an antique clock, currently unfinished.
It takes me so long to make prop replicas nowadays because I feel like I'm holding myself up to higher and higher standards of quality. Which always makes for a great end result, but I'd be lying if I said I didn't miss when I was managing to make a cool prop every month.
17.09.2025 01:02 โ ๐ 7 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 1 ๐ 0I'm finding myself spending less and less time on social media in general, and feeling less and less FOMO for it. I'm sure "limit your time online" is not a new bit of advice to you, but I'd definitely recommend it (especially if that leads you to spending more time on a hobby that brings you joy)
16.09.2025 01:50 โ ๐ 0 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0Totally relatable, it's frustrating how much of our lives we have to dedicate to the stuff that just keeps us going (as opposed to what truly gives us joy). I don't have any good advice for dealing with that frustration, other than to try and take solace in what time you do get with your passions.
15.09.2025 00:47 โ ๐ 2 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0The important thing is that you're happy/proud of what you produce, if that means we all gotta wait a bit longer for the next season then so be it! Your work is worth the wait. Plus, you don't wanna burn yourself out by forcing yourself to work on it in sub-optimal conditions.
