Ontario initially found Hwy. 401 tunnel plan had ‘potential for roadway collapse’ | Globalnews.ca An internal assessment of the plan determined that burrowing a tunnel under the highway would face technical and financial problems and could pose 'risks to public safety.'

Ford has been warned by experts within his own government that his 401-tunnel dream risks “roadway collapse” and is unsafe and unrealistic. But he’s still plowing ahead with his $100 billion scheme instead of fixing our crumbling schools and understaffed hospitals.

The support that Atlético shows for this community is deeply appreciated. Thanks as well to Maple Lodge Farms who were doing the barbecuing.

It was great to attend Atlético Ottawa's kickoff BBQ for their Equal Access Soccer Camp in Carlington. I had the chance to chat with some of the kids about what they're learning and meet Monty Patterson and Jonathan Grant, on hand to sign autographs.

I pushed for transparency from the Minister of Education and obtained the contact information for the supervisors running your school board. Please share widely so that everyone can get the answers they need for September (2/2).

Poverty isn’t a crime. But Bill 6 would let municipalities fine or jail people simply for being poor. I spoke out because we need solutions, not criminalization.

Environmental lawyers demand action on lead in school drinking water Environmental lawyers asked the province to address high lead levels in drinking water at three school boards now under government control.

The Ford government has failed to even acknowledge the risk of lead exposure in our schools, let alone act to protect children. This is unacceptable.

Bill 33 is a direct attack on democracy in our schools. The Ford government is replacing elected trustees with handpicked supervisors. That’s not reform, it’s control and it shuts parents out of decisions that impact their children.

L’Arche Ottawa's annual Rainbow Picnic at Julien of Norwich Church offered an inclusive welcome to summer and a beautiful reminder of the caring community that L’Arche continues to build year after year. I was happy to lend a helping hand and say a few words of greeting.

Bike safety is so important, so it was great to see the Ottawa Police Service handing out bike helmets and Velofix doing bike tuneups at the Bayshore Bike Rodeo. Also pizza and fun activities on hand. Thanks PQCHC for organizing this great event!

Ottawa woman's MRI cancelled after mentioning her family doctor retired Lisa Kis waited months for an MRI to check spots on her liver. It was cancelled at check-in — because there was no way to bill for the MRI.

It’s unacceptable that someone who needs healthcare should be denied simply because they don’t have a family doctor. There are solutions that would expand access to primary care now. There is no excuse for not implementing them.

The new school year is only 6 weeks away & parents need answers. If the Minister is not going to show them the respect of restoring democratically elected trustees, he should immediately release the contact info for the supervisors so that parents can contact them with their questions about Sept.

Frustration over Algonquin’s ending of special needs program Sandra Wallace, mother of a 20-year-old woman with down syndrome, joins CTV to discuss Algonquin College’s plan to phase out its special needs program.

The AAADD program has been an inclusive opportunity for post-secondary education for so many young people, like Sandra Wallace’s daughter. Her story shows exactly why we need to protect and fund it. If you would like to show support to save the program, please print and share our petition.

Classrooms in Crisis: How our schools are underfunded The Ford government likes to claim that they are spending “record amounts!” on education.

Ford claims to be spending record amounts on education, but the numbers tell a different story. In this post, I break down next year's education funding numbers and highlight where the government is falling short.

Health care workers are burning out faster than they can be replaced, and many are still grappling with the lasting impacts of Bill 124’s wage suppression.
