I’m Canadian. I could travel. I do travel. I’d love to travel to California.

But given how the US has treated Canada, I won’t travel to California (or the US). You like to believe that it’s just Trump, but 38.33% of voters in California voted for Trump in 2024, 34.32% in 2020, & 31.62% in 2016.

Yes it’s Valentine’s Day. But it’s also the chosen birthday of Frederick Douglass who was born in 1818 on a plantation in Talbot County, Maryland. He escaped from slavery & rose to become the most eloquent and forceful voice for the abolition of slavery & for Black voting rights in the U.S.

It’s good that you are trying to give hope to former US partners of the US (like Canada & EU nations), that they can have at least some hope that the US will come back somewhat from its current madness under the Trump/MAGA admin (if the Trump/MAGA admin doesn’t fully become a dictatorship first).

This is one of the sad but inspiring stories to emerge from this tragedy. This type of coming together at a national level in response to such a crisis could not have happened in the last decade in the US, & it shows in a significant way how un-American Canada is.

I am proud to live in a country where in spite of our differences, our political leaders can come together in a time of crisis and mourning including in the aftermath of the Tumbler Ridge tragedy. 💔

Animal Justice lawyers are making our case against a live horse exporter that we charged over a shipment of horses to Japan that went over the legal time limit.

Laws protecting animals are meaningless without enforcement.

Thank goodness there are independent journalists & advocates, respectively like @rachelgilmore.bsky.social & @faejohnstone.bsky.social, who are willing to challenge the anti-trans misinformation & hate in Canada emerging from the mass shouting in Tumbler Ridge, BC.

It’s so tragic, so disheartening, to see the Trump administration (like Attorney General Pam Bondi) work so hard to protect the rich & powerful criminals in the Epstein Files who sexually assaulted children instead of fighting for the victims.

Many schools/classrooms rely on free resources from the meat & especially the dairy industries. Please consider not using resources that are related to cruelty to animals or significant negative environmental impact. To that end, the best option is promoting plant-based farming.

Misogyny Is Rising in U.S. Classrooms. Where Is the National Response? As Europe rolls out national programs to confront misogyny and harassment in schools, the United States still lacks a coordinated response.

As misogyny & other forms of hate are on the rise in US classrooms, we have to make a special effort in classrooms in Canada to counter these forms of hate (which negatively impact learning).

Ontario Liberals to elect new leader in the fall Online voting by ranked ballot will take place from Nov. 9 to 20, after former leader Bonnie Crombie stepped down last month.

The Ontario Liberal Party (OLP) will choose a new leader this Fall. Hopefully the race will include candidates discussing the outdated idea of having separate Catholic public school boards in ON. Former OLP MPP Greg Sorbara wrote in 2014 that ON should end that idea.
