Accurate, unfiltered coverage of state government benefits all of us, and helps strengthen our democracy. It’s time to make it a fully public entity, beholden only to the people of Wisconsin, and freely available to all.

It shouldn’t be funded by the whims of corporate sponsors and lobbying interests who want to skew coverage to their own benefit — which can create challenging editorial pressures.

Everyone deserves to know what our government is doing, and to be able to hold decision makers accountable.

Wisconsin Eye provides a critical public service, but it was set up to fail as a private entity.

The SAFE Kids Act (Stop Addictive Feeds Exploiting Kids Act) will begin circulating for co-sponsorship this week with a deadline of Dec. 1 for legislators interested in supporting it.

The most powerful and profitable companies in the history of the world have refused to protect our kids—instead, they profit off isolation, insecurity, and depression. We need guardrails to protect our kids as they engage with social media, to prevent the harms that are now well-documented.

Today, we announced the introduction of the SAFE Kids Act, which will ensure that the safety and wellbeing of children is paramount, and that social media companies abide by basic standards—no targeted ads or data collection on kids, no addictive algorithms designed to promote endless scrolling.

Data center 'statewide guardrails' proposed under Wisconsin bill The proposal comes as recent polling shows a majority of Wisconsin voters believe the costs associated with data centers outweigh the benefits of those projects.

This legislation prevents data centers from passing utility project costs onto Wisconsinites, sets standards to protect our natural resources for future generations, and prioritizes family-supporting jobs.

We need a statewide framework for data center development that ensures Wisconsinites’ needs are met – that we don’t see utility costs increase, preserve local self-determination, and protect our natural resources and rural communities.

Across Wisconsin, I’ve heard concerns from people across the political spectrum about the challenges that data centers pose: unregulated corporate power running roughshod over local needs, huge increases in the price of electricity, and damage to our water supply.

Cuts to two Wisconsin veterans programs officially take effect this month • Wisconsin Examiner WI lawmakers have failed to find a solution to stop cuts taking effect this month to two programs that help struggling veterans.

But this doesn't come as a surprise: Wisconsin Republicans also cut funding for programs to help veterans with homelessness and mental health struggles.

As a reminder, Wisconsin is the only state in the country that does not recognize Veterans Day as a state holiday because Wisconsin Republicans have refused to advance legislation making it a state holiday.

Republicans have shut down the federal government because they chose to massively increase people’s healthcare costs so they could give more tax breaks to billionaires.

The Trump regime’s fiscal incompetence and cruelty are causing health insurance premiums to skyrocket. Wisconsinites can’t afford MAGA policies, and we need to make our voices heard to demand that Republican politicians reopen the government and stop the premium hikes.

UW is just another cost preventing them from giving more public $ to their billionaire backers. The ‘budget shortfalls’ that led to this closure were manufactured by right-wing politicians who systematically divested from public higher ed while strangling UW’s ability to manage its own affairs.”

Abducting people without due process violates the rights guaranteed to every person in this country by our constitution. It also creates chaos and distrust, especially when done without any transparency whatsoever.

I was disturbed to see the news of an ICE raid in Madison yesterday. People come to Wisconsin because they know if they work hard, they can build a better life for themselves and their families.
