For the frame I like FlyProducts (my rig), Iris, and Parajet (pricey but nice).

I recommend the Spyder because it's like cheat-codes when you're ready to launch. Launching Paramotors is a pretty weird process and every advantage helps you build skills early.

Engine maintenance - YouTube

I recommend the Moster for the maintenance videos that exist for it.

1. Finding quality instruction comes first. Know where you'll get a good education from.
2. Good schools have like 5 gearsets you'll fly during training. You may find like I did, the thing you thought you'd like doesn't fit your style.
3. You can't go wrong with a Moster 185 and an Ozone Spyder.

Ooh I'd heard of zenmap but obviously need to try it. It would even catch local IPs on different subnets? This might be a better tool for field engineers. Other answers I've been a fan of are "watch Wireshark and plug it in", `tcpdump arp` and plug it in, or just `arp -n` to see what's cached

I miss flying without gloves, taking pictures didn't hurt as much.

I had no idea nmap could show its packets, nice!

Something I've been quizzing friends with lately: if I put an unknown ethernet device on the desk; how would you go about figuring out its DHCP-assigned or static IP?

PPG attracts a lot of folks with the hacker mindset, and is the best way to fly for fun/affordably imo. I actually don't recommend the electric one because in the beginning after training you need to build hours dialing in landings, getting comfortable, and chasing friends.

Oh wow there's a dump1090 app on the android store, looks like it's been done. Sorry for the stream of consciousness lol

I have flightaware's kit and the raspi would def be easier. I'm just fantasizing so I don't do actual work this late at night. Maybe somehow plugging this into dump1090 would work on Android, but that's probably a ton of work.

Lmk if you have questions. It's the best form of aviation when your cost functions are fun/affordable/safeish. It definitely draws a lot of people with hacker mindsets, but before you mention it I don't recommend going electric for your first unit.

I was just looking at your SDR posts thinking it'd be nice to have a dedicated android ADS-b app with an attached SDR displaying warnings without the delay that comes with websites.

Oh I didn't realize Bluesky had domain verification, and I didn't notice the .bsky.social was missing. Neat.

It might look trivial, but I'm essentially on the edge of stalling and falling below the formation. I was really stoked to pull it off with an amazing group of friends.

Wingsuiters fly in front of a background of clouds, farms, and woods.

Wingsuiters fly in front of a background of clouds, farms, and woods.

This pic made me happy. It shows me, in red, "flying dirty", to stay with the group. The bent knees and swept arms keep me flying with the lighter, smaller suits in the group.

We've got a solid paramotor group north of Pittsburgh if you're ever over this way.

I spent all last year saying I wouldn't, but when the moment came I couldn't resist flying during the eclipse. I need to get around to editing that video sometime, but it was surreal seeing the shadow sweep through the scattered cloud layers.
