The King's Fort β’ Derry
This is one of the best preserved ringforts in Ulster. It likely dates to some time between the 6thβ12th century.
It is situated on the southern slopes of Benbradagh, commanding spectacular views over Drumsurn in County Derry.

15.02.2026 19:18 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0A statue of St Gobnait at Ballyvourney. The stone statue features a sculpture of the saint standing in a shawl, hands clasped in prayer. Bees, a symbol of the saint, decorate the base, and flowers and small statuettes are set at the bottom.
The small holy well of St Gobnait under a tree in Ballyvourney. The well is accessed by stone steps.
A closer view of the holy well and the steps leading down into it. The well is a small opening within a stone structure.
The waters of the well and the mossy stone surround.
Today marks the feast day of St Gobnait.
Tradition suggests that Gobnait lived during the 6th century, and she is commemorated in sites on Inis OΓrr and across Munster.
But she is most associated with Ballyvourney, County Cork, where you can find a pilgrimage landscape (with a lovely holy well)
Sad π On a side-note, it looks like a residential street but because itβs 1939, there are no parked cars. Most ordinary folk didnβt have one I suppose
