The King's Fort • Derry

This is one of the best preserved ringforts in Ulster. It likely dates to some time between the 6th—12th century.

It is situated on the southern slopes of Benbradagh, commanding spectacular views over Drumsurn in County Derry.

Today marks the feast day of St Gobnait.

Tradition suggests that Gobnait lived during the 6th century, and she is commemorated in sites on Inis Oírr and across Munster.

But she is most associated with Ballyvourney, County Cork, where you can find a pilgrimage landscape (with a lovely holy well)

Sad 😞 On a side-note, it looks like a residential street but because it’s 1939, there are no parked cars. Most ordinary folk didn’t have one I suppose

Hot port - hot water, port, slice of lemon studded with cloves and a spoonful of sugar or honey. Best comforting treatment in Ireland for most sniffles & coughs🥰 though you can drink it even if you’re well😆

I visited Stratford years ago and was tickled to see high street shops like Boots set in really old looking buildings. I imagined Ann Hathaway dropping in for a bar of soap and some Calpol for the kids…😆

This is awful to read. Sounds like an example of personal and institutional ignorance, arrogance and downright bad manners from airline & airport staff. The Facebook link might pop up saying it’s invalid but just ignore that and you’ll eventually get to the story.
