Excited to share this collaborative study with @ritatamayo.bsky.social showing that E. faecalis influences C. diff morphology through the phase variable CmrRST system! This work was co-led by the amazing team of @ashleyweiss.bsky.social and Jilarie Santos-Santiago!

Probiotics Can Help or Hinder Gut Recovery After Antibiotic Treatment

New paper is out from our lab showing that some probiotics can accelerate and prolong the return of colonization resistance to C. difficile after antibiotics.

To be fair, his response is about the β€œtop skill”, not major or anything taught by the university. For undergrads that get placed into courses taught by professors who have no sincere interest in teaching, current-gen LLMs could be a big multiplier, i.e., learning tool for multiple subject areas.

I personally went to UW. Only the top ~10-20% of students at most high schools in WA bother applying. By general population standards, that is very, very selective.

acceptance percentages are not the full story. At flagship state unis, admission criteria are very clear and students self-select. Take UMN as an example, average admit has a 1400 SAT, which is estimated 97th percentile amongst all students and 93rd amongst those that took the SAT.

Love to see it! The impulse looks great, we couldn’t consider it because our total supply (60A) couldn’t handle a separate non-battery oven.

Very good point, but I’d argue the competition is so strong that the current minority use case (e.g., Avis-owned Zipcar for car-free folks) is hanging on by a thread.

Rental car companies are resorting to this because they compete against a heavily-subsidized service: personal car ownership. Impossible to win without tipping the other side of the scale.

This is actually a very big market. Just had my copper installed. Only alternative was upgrading supply for our 6-unit condo from 200A (!) at an estimated cost of $40-50k (!). Not viable to get condo agreement and funds in less than a decade.

ASM, IDSA, SHEA & PIDS Request PACCARB Meet Immediately | ASM.org On behalf of 41 organizations, we write to request that the President’s Advisory Council on Combating Antibiotic Resistant Bacteria (PACCARB) meet as soon as possible.

The annual PACCARB meeting l, hosted by HHS, is essential for disseminating research on AMR and developing the US national action plan, but was cancelled during the presidential administration transition. Several stakeholders issued this plea to reschedule.
