Inversions this time of year are especially interesting because they "generate" tropospheric ducts which allow for the propagation of radio signals, up in the VHF part of the radio spectrum. In this case, FM broadcast stations in the Boston, MA area were here loud and clear in NL - Sep 03/04

While the storm is stronger than forecast just 24 hours ago, it is still too soon to say what, if any, impact it would have on Atlantic Canada.

Current projections continue to indicate the most likely scenario is a track SE of Newfoundland.

Yes,Tropo...See link below. I've only been at this since 2021 and even NS on Tropo is a rare event here. And I've only seen it in the latter part of summer - end of August beginning of Sept.

Not too much Tropo this far north, ≈ 48º N, but I did have a good rx of WBUH (Brewster) and WCOD (Hyannis) on July 15. Interesting to note that this is almost a complete water path...

I guess like most Tropo paths, temp. inversion is the main driver, but do the mountains themselves reinforce the path in any way via a diffraction or refraction mechanism along with the inversion?

Specifically, what role does the mountains themselves play?
