Alaska Gov. Dunleavy picks former Texan U.S. Attorney for new state attorney general | Alaska Beacon
Stephen Cox, a member of the Federalist Society, would face a legislative confirmation vote in the spring from state lawmakers.
I donβt know Mr. Cox and I look forward to learning more in his confirmation hearings. According to the Alaska Bar Association he just became an attorney in AK 3 months ago & according to Division of Elections he was not registered to vote in Alaska as of May 2025 alaskabeacon.com/2025/08/28/a...

Mysteriously, tax settlements have dropped by hundreds of millions of dollars under Dunleavy. Several months ago a former Dunleavy Deputy Commissioner wrote that he was told βpoint blankβ he was βexpected to violate statute to enrich oil companies on public money they weren't legally entitled to.β

Since the βoil situation has deterioratedβ maybe itβs time to cut back on the $655 million in oil tax credits, the $500 million in oil tax subsidies for the Willow project (for which AK gets zero royalties) and the $120 million to a single Texas oil billionaire due to a loophole

Many are asking what the impacts are of the Executive Order to dismantle the Department of Education. Itβs not entirely clear, but the impacts would greatly impact special education programs, low and moderate income families and those federal student loans and grants for college and career training
