Itβs been wonderful revisiting Michael Gielenβs Mahler cycle! Heβs like the perfect mix of Klemperer and Boulez to my ears. 1, 6, 7 & 10 are just so perfect. Even with the recordings I hadnβt thought much of (4, 5, DL & 9), this time round I realised just how good they are. A fantastic cycle

All in all, what Lindberg has accomplished so far with this cycle is nothing short of miraculous. Goes to show how much the recording industry can still contribute even in this over saturated era

I really love this release! Up till now, Lindberg has never had the edge over Segerstam when theyβve done the same symphony. But I think heβs on par with the 8th and has surpassed with the 3rd. Letβs see how he goes with 10 & 11 (a very high bar!!)

I just finished season 1 and there were so many things about Mel that I just RECOGNISED so well. The character is so well drawn without feeling tropey. I agree, I really hope this is confirmed this season!
