framerate is just way more noticeable when you're in control of what's happening on screen. a movie playing at 24fps can feel perfectly smooth, or watching a video of a game at 30 can look fine, but playing a game at either of those framerates is a slideshow

can't speak for lossless scaling in particular, but i think all frame gen technologies work essentially the same way and they all have the same issue. the gpu has to hold 2 whole real frames ahead of what's being displayed to generate the fake frames in between. the latency is horrendous.
