i’m assuming you haven’t read the books if that’s what you think the point of them is

the ones who are into oathbreaking, treachery etc (the Lannisters et al) are going to lose.

It’s also a key theme of ASOIAF that you should do the right thing even when it’s not easy, and the main characters grapple with this constantly. That doesn’t scream “edgelord parody” to me.

GRRM’s work certainly contains “historical inaccuracies” but that doesn’t have any bearing on whether or not he understands how people work (barring religion, and even then the followers of R’hllor are reasonably accurate tbh)
