"Don't scream into the void"

The fun part about writing fantasy is you can just make stuff up.
The hard part is making the nonsense follow some kind of logic in order for the story to work.
Wrap-Up post to talk about the books I read in July

In case anyone was wondering: Yes, I am still annoyed that the John Wick films decided to call him "Baba Yaga".

It will happen again.

If I don't acknowledge my messed-up sleep schedule, then it can't hurt me.

"This story is getting a little too dark" I say as I write characters into a situation that's analogous to a real-life thing I went through.

Not for nothing, but when I read part of my book aloud to see how it sounded, it garnered a happy meow from my cat.
I think I'm on the right track

I don't know what I did, but my phone has decided "prologue" isn't a word and that what I really mean is "prolonged".
Funny? Kind of, but I'm too annoyed to laugh right now.
Hey #booksky My upcoming witchy urban fantasy novel, set in Appalachia, is now on Goodreads.
Add it to your "Want to Read" list today!

How many POVs are in your book and why?
I have 1 POV because it fit the mystery aspect well, but nearly had the prologue in a separate POV
Here's the link to add it (if you're interested)

Please tell me I'm not the only one in the "having a kid ruins the ending" boat for certain books.
"Aw, but it's cute."
No, these people should not be parents. That kid's going to grow up with so many issues.

My local library is having a book-binding workshop and I found out about it too late to sign up! π
I may never recover from this
You know what I love in books? Lines that seem harmless on first read, but smack you in the face with double-meaning/foreshadowing after a reveal.
I need those like oxygen.
New blog post is up! I talk about some mistakes I made (and hope to learn from) while writing my first novel.

02.06.2025 23:24 β π 2 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0The trouble with having supportive friends who will definitely read your book is that sometimes your inner gremlin goes "put in a reference that only [friend] will get, and get annoyed with you over including" while writing.
Did I do it? Yes, because I'm not a coward.
Might mess around later with some prose. Maybe throw in some themes and motifs. Perhaps even an allegory or two.
