I don't expose myself to news in the morning. That way, I can focus on work. I have sworn off the cable news channels entirely. I'm sticking with reading trusted publications online. I'm also devoted to self-care. I want to be of use and not sacrifice myself.

For anyone who thought it would be a cold day in hell before this happened again, here's your cold day.

I'm writing short stories for the first time in a long while. Fiction is a wild adventure, an electrifying challenge, an exploration of dark corners and dizzying heights. I recently submitted a story to a dream publication. There's virtually no chance they'll take it, but it's fun to try.

Such a haunting work...I, too, am holding on to art for my sanity. So many of us are.

I know it's a busy holiday season, but let's keep making art. Keep writing, painting, drawing, sculpting, weaving, playing guitar, or whatever you do to create. Making art is how we'll survive 2025 and beyond.
