Back in the 60s, it wasn’t a ‘sport’s drink’. The bottles were wrapped in orange cellophane, and you were only allowed it if you were ill. Didn’t make my measles, mumps and rubella that much better.

Our little cat loved cheese more than anything else. Not good for her. It may have knocked a few hours* off her life, but the look of slitty-eyed joy on her face when given some.
* She was 18 when she died, and cholesterol was not a complicating factor.

A profile drawing - by me - of a British Power Boat Company 71ft 6ins Motor Torpedo Boat 476. It is painted in a variant of the Admiralty Light Scheme, with decks in B15, and vertical surfaces in White and the pale grey known as G45. The G45 sweeps down the port side of the boat in a sinuous curve.

Coastal Forces developed Light and Dark Schemes, which in this instance used three colours in an attempt to 'flatten' the boat. Areas in shadow were painted white and highlights pale grey.

It is a quite amazing site. Though I spend more time on the Ordnance Survey maps section of the National Library of Scotland at present.

The other sign is roughly opposite that one, but lacks the triangle. Dunno if you’re familiar with the SABRE roads website? Loads of similar stuff there.

The photo shows a street in Glastonbury, Somerset, with an old road sign in the reveal between two houses. It is a sign from the time before ‘Warboys’, which redesigned all signs. The sign shows two children crossing, with a red triangle above.

Thornycroft built some longer MTBs (c. 55 feet, rather than 45 feet) still based on the distinctive CMB ‘shape’, which I think did some ‘special’ service. Seems that the short boats sweet spot was 70 - 80 feet long. There’s a new Thornycroft book out, copy of which I’m expecting in post.

Years ago, someone at work dropped a large printer toner cartridge, which billowed copiously. I advised we get out until it settled.
