From what I have read, the modern concept of a paladin comes from a few sources, such as Palatine Hill and some of its associated culture and history. In addition to this, you have Charlemagne's twelve knights, most notably Roland.

These two sources, along with a couple more, birthed the paladin.

If you're an RPG creator, think about the ways you name your files when you put them up for download. Put the full name of your game into the file name, not an acronym. Remove the cruft of iteration—don't make me download a character sheet called "char sheet 2 (final).pdf"

I think a key feature of good combat in TTRPGs is Interactive terrain, such as knocking over objects to great effect (it is important for it to feel impactful), jumping from feature to feature gain a height or mobility advantage, creating or destroying difficult terrain and other obstacles, etc.
