While large institutional investors continue to get most of the headlines in the single-family rental space, small investors account for more than 90% of the market. These are individuals owning 10 properties or less. The largest investors, those with 1,000 or more properties, make up just 2% of all investor-owned homes.

Unlike individuals, institutional investors are now selling more homes than they buy and have been for six consecutive quarters. The nation's largest landlords, Invitation Homes, + Progress Residential, American Homes 4 Rent + and FirstKey Homes, all sold more homes in the third quarter of this year than they purchased, according to an analysis from Parcl Labs.

The article says that 90% of investor owned properties are owned by people with less than 10 properties. So if 1/3 of sales are to investors, only 3.3% are to large investors. And those large investors are selling more than they buy, meaning they own fewer homes today than they did 1.5 years ago

Sounds bad but respectfully this is not how banks operate when they foreclose. Chicago doesn’t have rent control so why would Wells Fargo want the building to stop generating revenue once they own it? Their goal is to sell it - and a full apartment building is more valuable than an empty one.

Yeah I don’t get why people are reacting so positively to this statement. I assume most of them have critical reading skills and should be able to see that the response says nothing substantive and commits to nothing.

I’m willing to say it’s a rejection of this version. But the White House asked the 9 colleges for comment on the compact, not to sign it, and she doesn’t say that they will not negotiate its terms.

Why do you think it’s excellent? It doesn’t reject the proposed compact or say anything other than that she supports academic freedom.

It does say 3 children were killed on board though.

It seems like all she said is that they received the draft and that she supports academic independence. She didn’t say what they’re doing with it, whether they’re providing feedback, and whether they’d consider signing a modified version.
