We're not fans of the chaos and consumerism that Black Friday represents. So we're doing things a little differently: one last sale to close out the year, to celebrate the changing of the seasons and to give our loyal customers the chance to replenish their supply of tea for the months ahead.

It's tea season: mornings grow chillier, days grow shorter, and snow is on the horizon (or, depending on where you are in the world, already on your doorstep.) We enjoy tea the whole year round, but there's something especially satisfying about a cup of good tea as the year draws to a close.

Grown in China's Anhui Province, our China Keemun has a slightly smoky flavor with toasty notes. This mellow Chinese black has a beautiful reddish amber color, medium body, and a hint of astringency.

This tea gets its name from Longjing village in Zhejiang Province. Similar to other specialty ingredients, like champagne or parmesan, only teas grown in Zhejiang Province can be labelled as true Dragon Well teas!

The tea leaves are pressed flat into long, needle-like shapes, and brew up into a beautiful pale green-gold liquor.

Have you ever tried Dragon Well? This Chinese green tea has a mellow flavor and nutty and vegetal notes.

Our Hojicha is sourced from Shizuoka, Japan. It is a smooth and satisfying tea with toasty and nutty notes, and brews up a beautiful caramel color. It’s a great tea to enjoy on a chilly afternoon!

Hojicha is low in caffeine, with a medium body and a warm, nutty flavor with a hint of natural sweetness. Because of its low caffeine content and mild taste, in Japan Hojicha is especially popular among children and people who may be sensitive to caffeine.

The roasting process that Hojicha undergoes sets it apart from other types of Japanese green tea. This process turns the tea leaves a light brown color.

Five Star Review I drink it every day This Irish Breakfast is how I start my day, every day. I love it so much that I even bring it with me when I travel because I don't want to risk a crappy cup of tea to start my day when I'm away from home. It's that good! I've had a subscription for a couple years so l never run out and it is easy to manage if I need to adjust shipping dates. Drinking good tea and supporting a great independent company at the same time!

Come check out our new locally handmade ceramics! We have beautiful teapots, cups, and mugs from Carolyn Lobeck in our shop.

We recommend preparing Kabusecha with water that has reached a temperature of about 140 degrees—just lightly steaming.

Our Kabusecha is grown in Kagoshima Prefecture, located in southern Japan. Thanks to its oceanic character, we’ve heard it described as “for those who long for the sea”!

Because of this shading process, Kabusecha also tends to be higher in caffeine and l-theanine than other types of green tea.

Traditionally, Kabusecha is prepared with a higher ratio of tea leaves to water. Here, we’re using about three tablespoons for our 24 oz. pot.

Kabusecha, which means “shaded tea” in Japanese, is a high-end green tea similar in character to Gyokuro.

Kabusecha tea plants are shaded for two weeks prior to harvest, which contributes to their rich umami flavor and lingering sweetness.
