But I feel like it is not being emphasized enough ANYWHERE (online, in the con scene, in the cosplay community itself???): cosplayers are NOT the character they cosplay. I don't care if they can do the voice or roleplay like they wrote the guy, they are not the character. Stop acting like they are.

I have another point on this too: WHY ARE PEOPLE SO ODD TO COSPLAYERS? Yes, I'm speaking as a Hazbin cosplayer. But also, someone who started cosplaying over 10 years ago. My first convention was a Wizard con in Virginia in 2014 dude. Like I'm not new here.

And for the love of everything left, please, don't forget the little guys. Bite for them too. Those whose voices are too soft to scream and those who don't know their bite yet - bite for them until they're ready. Do not leave them behind.

Between absolute creeps in the con scene, puritans online, and the continued infighting within communities, you have to know what you will and won't stand for. You have to know what's worth fighting for.

This is not even touching on how the cosplay community has changed. I admit, I am speaking broadly, but I came back to cosplay VIA HAZBIN. I only started cosplaying because of how hard I fell in love with Alastor. And you know what? Viv is right. You have got to be a creator that bites.

I took a huge break from in depth fandom activity for a few years and came back a little under a year ago, and it's just... Awful. The purity culture, the weird expectations, and the refusal to even try to understand anything that is not exactly how you want to see things??

Looking at @vivziepop.bsky.social recent post about being a creator that fucking bites and honestly? She's so spot on.

Got together with my lover through Hazbin bc I shipped #radioapple so hard. No joke, we were friends (almost with benefits) and I asked her to cosplay Lucifer for me and she said yes???? So I bought her a silly little vest and the rest is history!!!
