Sometimes! I'm a big fan of using dice to decide small things, though obviously in this case, the MC has to either win or lose depending on the part of the book. Can help shake up the middle parts of the fight though~

Not sure if this helps but I find writing the fight choreography like d&d initiative helps visually see that back and forth, and then take that and move it into the story at an appropriate pace.

Joni and I just started on it recently after taking some time to do a bit of editing on the first one. We're working on chapters 2 & 3. Hoping to get through the first 5 chapters before we get the first book back from the editor later this month ❤️

I'm writing the sequel to my first book. It's an MM Romantasy series that follows three brothers as they each discover love, magic, and a hidden history all while trying to keep a tentative peace between two countries ✨

Contemplating chapter word count and sticking to specific outlines. I typically try to go for about 2500-3000 words, but am sitting at exactly 1800 right now. Hmmm. I could go on to the next scene. Or I could end it there. 🤔 Choices choices

Having a character tree is really helpful. I like to use OneNote for that and link character pages together.

Though technically these characters have existed since book 1 but now they have to be fully fleshed out which is a whole other activity

Starting a new book is so hard. Learning the new characters, figuring out how they'll handle the situation. It all just feels rough. How do y'all handle that beginning hurdle?
