as a #santamonica resident, i've been on firewatch since tuesday, first thinking that the palisades highlands was too far away, but when it jumped temescal and burned thru the village and reached chautauqua, OMG. evacuation orders and warnings. conditions changing as quickly as wind direction...

yeah, i realized that after noticing the same window in both shots 🫤

they announced 5000+ acres on tv

calfire still shows affected area at 2900+ acres, which is clearly incorrect since houses in the huntington palisades are burning and the area isn't reflected on their map

the #palisadesfire is still burning with 0% containment. i'm in #santamonica altho not in an evacuation zone, mandatory nor warning. wind gusts have died down, so while the smoke was being blown away all night, it's starting to settle down. no blue sky here; it's particulate mask time 😷

the northern edge of #santamonica north of san vicente was ordered to evacuate two hours ago. the area next to that north of montana is on alert. so far, no updates since then. fingers crossed! #palisadesfire

last i saw, embers were flying around the rec center 😱

temescal is affected, including pali high. there are homes near the gelson's on sunset that caught fire!

and now the palisades residents have only PCH and sunset which can't handle the traffic 😕
