Basically, people wouldn't be fair to this new story and characters. They'd be watching/reading mainly for Naruto/Sasuke and the OGs.
So instead of killing them off, they wrote them out of the story, and they'll probably be back near the end.
The thing is, Kishimoto wanted to at least kill Sasuke off from what we know from his France interview.
He knows how important it is for the series to not have Naruto & Sasuke in it, because people wouldn't read/watch Boruto for the new gen themselves.
So I don't think we'll see either soon.
Maybe Sasuke told him about Minato briefly, or maybe in other timelines he might have worked with Boruto for it.
Tho it seems Boruto by himself was the one who came up with it and all.
