Coupling between landward and seaward fringes of sandy beaches: algal deposits on the upper beach influence biogeochemistry and faunal assemblages in the swash zone
Washed-up algae could be an important source of nutrients for sandy beaches, but algae tends to get stranded at the high water line πποΈ. Do these nutrients make it down to the bottom of the beach where most biodiversity resides π?
