“Liar” is awesome. The chorus delights the part of the brain that hates predicability. I will die on this hill.

They actually still played this song on German radio when I was in college there in 1994-1995 (albeit only on Oma’s stations such as Bayern 1).

I can’t say I like it, but I do recall finding it pleasant when I’d hear it on WQXI Atlanta as a preschooler / kindergartener in the late 70s. It now gets wrapped in—perhaps unfairly—with the creepy “Clair” genre.

I’m surprised Burlington is a skip. It’s a decent sized city. Is its per-capita boardings low or is it simply a small city by express standards?

Five Ways Streaming has Structurally Changed Pop Music From beginning to end, the very elements that have defined Pop songs for decades are changing. Why? To maximize the royalty payments you generate.

WCOM-LP is probably the only radio station in the U.S. whose legal city of license (Chapel Hill) is larger than its actual community of interest (Carrboro).

You’re giving me happy flashbacks to when WOWO was Indiana’s Most Powerful Radio Station and they had to call out Ohio and Michigan for observing DST.

It’s 9:03 Saturday night. It’s 38-degrees. Who are these people playing soccer—in official jerseys no less—at Chapel Hill’s Cedar Falls Park?

Who are all these people playing soccer at Cedar Falls Park at 8:23 Sunday night? And who are all the people watching these other people play soccer at 8:23 Sunday night? Surely, it’s a front for something.

Sorry, Old White People: Kendrick Lamar's Halftime Show Was a Hit Post Superbowl Spotify data shows the daily streams for Lamar's biggest tunes almost tripled compared to the previous week's daily streams.

Despite your Uncle Larry's Facebook review, a massive jump in streaming on Spotify tells a very different story about Kendrick Lamar's halftime show: open.substack.com/pub/graphsab...

Also, were guys still named Gus in ‘75? I was digging “50 Ways” on 79/WQXI with the rest of the Matthews and Jennifers in preschool.

He’s asking his GF how to leave her, while she’s already planning to leave him. “In the morning,” he’ll “begin to see the light” that she left him first.

Took the new (to me) e-bike to @wegmansofficial.bsky.social for the first time. Actually faster and easier than driving.

Do You Have to Let it linger? Just five songs dominated the Top 10 for over half the year in 2024. Why are hits staying around forever these days?

Can we blame Spotify for Teddy Swins’ “Lose Control”
Being Billboard’s Song Of The Year? Yes. Yes we can. www.graphsaboutsongs.com/p/do-you-hav...

Did Radio Officially Lose Its Relevance in 2024? The songs that stir your soul, reduced to data.

Do radio DJs still communicate to the masses? Billboard’s 2024 year end charts suggest no: www.graphsaboutsongs.com/p/did-radio-...

Have your kids been on a subway yet? If not, ride MARTA. Ride the really long escalator at Peachtree Center station.

Add my vote for Mary Mac’s. My dad took me to Lunch there in the 80s. My uncle ate lunch three in the 60s. And it’s actually better today!

It's The Most Nostalgic Time of the Year Do the Christmas songs Americans stream on Spotify unveil any contemporary additions to the Christmas cannon? Hardly.

Are Millennials and Gen Z embracing contemporary additions to the Christmas music canon? Quite the opposite: www.graphsaboutsongs.com/p/its-the-mo...

Yikes! How close is radio to a viable and FCC accepted software-based EAS option?
