This is part of the “art” of medicine.

In ortho we plead WITH the fifth—metatarsal, to please please heal despite its sometimes sketchy blood supply.

Even ortho is publishing on baseline preop anemia, so this is good info for all of us to be aware of. We often see people for other injuries/issues before a major fracture, so it’s a conversation to keep in mind.
