Nothing @nyc-dot.bsky.social has done on Brooklyn Heights’ Montague Street is revolutionary by any means. But the combination of small improvements like on-street bike share parking and containerized trash connection, intersection daylighting, and seasonal open streets make this stretch so good now.

I stitched together a few videos of my ride, including a congested Brooklyn Bridge bike lane (still as fast as vehicle traffic), Park Ave Tunnel, and me crossing the finish line!

As an aside, you can REALLY feel the new drop in max speed of the @citibikenyc.bsky.social bike from 18 to 15. It sucks.

People have been asking NYC & @nyc-dot.bsky.social for years to expand #SummerStreets and they finally delivered!

I took a @citibikenyc.bsky.social from Fort Greene, Brooklyn to Inwood, Manhattan in 1h12m. It was amazing. My first time riding through the Park Ave Tunnel, too. Such a good ride.

If all MTA had Cubic do was change the OMNY site from showing subway stations and bus routes to “Subway” or “Bus” I’d love to know this this change took TWO YEARS. This feels like 30 minutes of development work.

If the page loads, but there’s no data and you haven’t taken a trip today make sure you change the filter from this month to prior 30 days or whatever

Sorta. Instead of actually fixing anything they just removed the subway station/bus route info. But at least you can verify free transfers again.

yea there's zero chance this ends up as 3rd rail. At least I hope so. Maybe they can do a supercapacitor thing that doesn't require much of any overhead wire!

If they were to convert from LRT to subway then they would certainly have to dramatically increase the length of the platforms anyway. I don't see the point in spending now for a future change that likely won't happen.
