I ended up just overworking until I dropped out, an it took like 6-7 years to even slightly recover (and tbh I never got back to my health when I entered college)

Yeah right?? It's so rough! College is absolutely not built around disabled learners and even getting basic accommodations (let alone ones that have to do with energy management or flares) is near impossible.

Aw, thank you so much!! I really love painting Nzuzi (he gets all the love from my paints honestly). And yes, it's entirely watercolor (with a little micron pen for the lines)! I also have a glittery watercolor I use for semi-opacity of his gold makeup~

24. My biggest bad art history was one time when I was a pre-teen and I basically traced something from an art book and totally lied about it when a DeviantArt group moderator called me out lol. But otherwise my art history is pretty benign xD

23. I think I could stand to improve on the energy in my pieces. I adore more dynamic poses and expressions, but find my own art to be a little stiff (maybe bc I rely on a lot of references). When I get a chance, I want to do more sketched studies to loosen up, and not be so bound to refs anymore!

Nzuzi’s a young man from DR Congo who’s fun and fruity and queer~! 💗 He’s intersex, autistic, selectively mute, and super super tall and lanky.

He was taken from Congo at a young age with his twin, and they were raised in orphanages and on the streets. 🥹

Finally got this transferred btw! I’m hoping to get some line art done soon~

I’m in for a busy few weeks at work before end of year break (which means resting every hour outside of work), but maybe I can sneak some artmaking in~ I hope!

I also think being forced to go to college was part of that. I wanted to self-study and do self-paced classes, build my own community. But doing college (while disabled too) was a recipe for debt and burnout.

I totally relate. The social experience of college was great, but I’m still (over a decade later) recovering from parts of that burnout. It took some of the joy away from creativity; I wish I’d studied fine art rather than illustration haha.

22. A lot of my 'artspirations' are coincidentally South Korean watercolor and gouache artists! Even before discovering their work, I shared a similar love for scenery, peaceful narrative you feel you can live in, and the way colors and water/pigment texture is used!

21. I'm sort of mixed on if I believe there's such a thing as "bad art" (excluding AI, that's all trash and not art). But anyone who puts effort to create something has some skill imo.

The "bad art" I see is when someone makes a sort of fake political statement with a single color canvas for $$$
