Boys are reading classic X-Men with me and formed their own team, the X-Dogs. Team leader is ThunderDog, named for Elliot’s favorite X-Man, Thunderbird (when I say classic X-Men, I mean it).

This morning, Elliot informed me that ThunderDog is…a Malamutant.

Kid is going places.

Not me singing “This is the end of the orange juice” to the tune of Don Henley’s “The End Of The Innocence” while I pour the last drops into my glass.

My most unrewarding hobby: looking for a male protagonist in the monthly Amazon First Reads books.

Remember back in 2005, when someone on “Lost” had to enter numbers into a terminal and push a button every 108 minutes, and how we thought that was crazymaking?

How is that different from email and social media today?

Our boys love Mad Libs, and this morning’s edition asked for “celebrity (female).” They were stumped. Eventually, they filled in the blank with: Elizabeth Enright, the 1939 Newbery Medal laureate.

Their answer for “celebrity (male)” was far quicker: Ringo Starr.
