Was feeling like I needed something uplifting and pure after today’s vote so I turned on Planet Earth 3, which I’ve never seen. The first scene is a group of seals teaming up to chase off a great white shark. If that isn’t a metaphor right now, I don’t know what is

Top 10 Reasons Why the Senate Finance Committee’s Reconciliation Bill Is Worse than the House-passed Bill Regarding Health Coverage Republicans on the Senate Finance Committee recently released their draft of the so-called “One Big Beautiful Bill Act”, proposing to cut even more Medicaid funding than the House-passed bill (which i...

The reconciliation language released by the Senate this week would cause millions of Californians to lose health care, endanger services at hospitals and clinics, gut protections for medical debt, and more.

Our leaders must stand up and stop the big ugly betrayal that is this bill.

Proposed premiums will push undocumented Californians off Medi-Cal, advocates say Advocates warn that Gov. Gavin Newsom’s plan to institute monthly premiums for some on Medi-Cal will restrict health care access.

“Most of these [ #CAbudget ] savings come, not from the $100 premiums that people are paying, but from the fact that they know people won’t be able to pay $100 premiums and will just lose coverage,” our executive director, @thewallner.bsky.social said.

Ohio would lose far more than it saves by ending #Medicaid expansion. Just $116M in net savings vs. $42B in lost federal funds, 435K more uninsured, and over $1.1B in lost tax revenue. The real state cost? Health, jobs, and economic stability www.healthpolicyohio.org/our-work/pub...

How Republican-Led Budget Cuts Could Impact Californians in Every Congressional District Proposed Republican budget cuts could impact health care, housing, and economic security for Californians in every congressional district.

This morning, every Republican representative from California voted Yes on the House’s budget reconciliation package.

Let’s be clear: they voted to take health care and food assistance away from millions of vulnerable Californians.

The original House bill would have led to about 10 million more uninsured people, according to CBO. The amended version that passed would lead to more people losing health insurance. If this bill gets enacted, it would represent the biggest rollback in federal support for health care ever.

House Republicans have voted to advance Trump's budget bill.

This bill will:
—Increase the national debt
—Throw millions off their health care with Medicaid cuts
—Cut taxes for billionaires
—Raise costs for the poorest Americans

To understand what the GOP is forcing through at midnight:
•Gutting $880 billion from Medicaid
•Gutting $500 billion from Medicare
•Gutting funding for SNAP (food assistance)
•Gutting clean energy protections, which will also cost 400,000 jobs

Today’s amendments took a bad bill and made it worse.

The amendments, which were first put in writing just a few hours ago. Which we can be certain most members have not read.

It’s despicable.

Here’s a huge part of the problem…this is as much a health care bill as it is a tax and immigration bill—and it should be reported as such.

They’re cutting upwards of $1 trillion from the ACA and Medicaid with more than 10m losing insurance — and this framing gives them a pass on that deviation.

The rush is intentional - they would rather we didn't know the impacts of the legislation they're voting on overnight.

There is no need to rush. The Memorial Day deadline is a fiction.

Republicans are back at it again—trying to ram their Big Backstabbing Bill through the House under the cover of night.

At a time when Trump’s tariffs are raising costs, this bill will devastate working families.

Democrats will leave no procedures unturned & no stories untold.

Because when your plan is this toxic, you gotta pass it while everyone’s asleep.

Medicaid isn’t waste — it’s care.

It covers half of U.S. births, millions of seniors, and people with disabilities.

The real waste? Attacks on a program that saves lives.

📞 Call Congress: 866-426-2631 to urge them to protect Medicaid.

Taking money out of the pockets of low-income immigrant families to access basic care isn’t going to fix the state's budget problems, but it will mean more Californians living sicker, unable to work, and going to the ER for preventable conditions.

At a time when our health care and immigrant communities are under attack from the federal government, we should be able to count on California elected officials to protect our communities. Instead we got the same tired talking points we’re hearing from Congressional Republicans.
