Six Flags call: the 4 Holiday In The Park events they cancelled will create an attendance loss of 500k, but they are ok with that bc they see those events as having been “lower margin higher risk.” Interesting that they didn’t try to cut some offerings to lower costs but cut the events instead.

Six Flags call: the company is revising down their year EBITDA guidance to between $860m and $910m, down from original estimates of $1.08t to $1.12t.

While those are still big numbers to be making, that’s a huuuge cut.

Six Flags call: Since AlpenFury opened at Canada’s Wonderland attendance has been up 20% over prior year, Fast Lane sales went up by 20% and they sold 100,000 more season passes in the weeks since. That’s a huge response to the ride.

Six Flags call: They are working to find more “cost efficiencies” in future capital programs and now 2026 spend is $400m. Sounds like a lot, is not a lot for the giant number of parks they own. I assume the efficiencies are just pushing things off (SFGrAdv as example).

From Six Flags call - the massive layoffs this summer will permanently reduce payroll costs by $20 million a year. That’s a very significant amount of people let go.

Lastly the ride is just gooood. Great practical sets. Stunning animatronics. Appropriate animations. Just wild enough, but no motion sickness. Clear storyline where you know what’s happening even tho it’s loud and chaotic. And like I said, I’m so happy this was built! Feels lucky in a way. I ❤️ it.

Monsters’ queue is amazing, highly detailed and full of bits of info about what’s going on. It’s a shame the ride rarely has a line that requires slowly moving through it. The ride’s preshowA is quirky and has resulted in a new lowkey mascot for the Dark Universe. PreshowB is awesome, animatronics!

Every so often the rides exterior puts on its own little show as power from the land is pulled into the castle to power the experiment. Or something like that. It’s fun to watch!

The last part of #EpicUniverse to cover is Monsters Unchained: The Frankenstein Experiment. My favorite overall attraction at the park. I avoided spoilers so I only knew it was a dark ride using FJ ride system. Oh, and that the animatronics were real good.

The rides exterior is sooooooo good.

Looks like a nice expansion is on the way!

This looks to be the same kind of Vekoma Family Boomerang coaster that King's Island added in 2024, with a Hollywood production theme.

While getting the existing rides to work well is important, building a new one or two would help tons.

Six Flags Great Adventure is also cutting Holiday in the Park this year. The unnamed 2026 record-breaking coaster is also being pushed to 2027.

They are running scared at this point it seems. Not good.

It’s neat how the lighting before the fire bursts represents the horde of angry villagers arriving to burn the windmill and Frankenstein in it. #EpicUniverse

The Burning Blade Tavern is cool. Generally anything that bursts into flames (safely) every 15 mins is cool. It is very small inside and counter service only, and the demand is there for a much more robust operation. It’s a neat place to rest up for a bit when in Dark Universe at #EpicUniverse.

Das Stakehaus also has a big covered patio area that looks out toward the entrance to Dark Universe. I’d love to sit out here and enjoy the area… when it’s not hot.

Das Stakehaus is an expansive and neatly themed restaurant in Dark Universe in #EpicUniverse. The food is good (it’s great all over at Epic) and there are staked vamps all over along with moody lighting and in-character staff. I got my food FAST at all locations, btw.

I would agree though, it’d be great as a family ride at a Six Flags park. But not at Epic Universe.
