just blurted out in class "yes, you have to cite where you got your info. in a world in which lying loudly is the only thing that seems to get rewarded, citing your sources is an act of resistance" and folks, I really believe that.

okay, we're starting with this

Step 1. call your own rep if you haven't already!

Step 2. sign this (cis women only please! cis guys, you can help by boosting)

Step 3. much depends on the success and reach of step 2; lots of options if this blows up

Social media is an incredible powerful tool for professional crowdsourcing: all of us together know more than any one (or handful) of us.

But if someone's asking people with specific skills and experience for advice, and you don't have that, it is not helpful for you to guess random nonsense.

We are the stories we tell. Explore the fantastic medieval Irish manuscript Lebor na hUidre (Book of the Dun Cow), a treasury of early Irish literature: stories of kings, queens, heroes, saints, cattleraids & feasts

A 1500 Welsh language poem, on display in British Library 'Medieval Women' exhibition.

It explains how Annes, abbess of Llanllyr, commissioned the bard Huw Cae Llwyd to perform for a knight, in the hope he would grant her one wish - a pet monkey! Sadly, we don't know if Annes got her mwnci! ๐Ÿ™ˆ๐Ÿ™‰๐Ÿ™Š

Was not forced, no. My mom had a Parker that I remember coveting as a child, to the point that by middle school she had gotten me one of the disposable Pilot ones, with turquoise ink. I loved that thing and used it to death. Didn't get back into pens again til my early 30s, though.

we fixed acid rain! we fixed the ozone layer! we beat polio! weโ€™ve rescued scores of species from the brink of extinction! the despair many of us feel about climate change isnโ€™t that itโ€™s too big to fix. itโ€™s that we know it is fixable but weโ€™re being thwarted by greedy ghouls at every turn.

The other day I was like โ€œyou know something we heard a lot about as kids was acid rain, why donโ€™t we hear about it anymoreโ€

TURNS OUT we fixed it???

The resident 12-year-old and I just started singing this at each other, and now she's considering it for next time her orchestra class does karaoke. Well played.
