Nice shot! Haven't seen one this year.
22.09.2025 20:24 β π 2 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Oh, dear.
16.09.2025 19:48 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0I love this, and the lighting & clarity are perfect!
11.09.2025 20:00 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Incredible capture, Sue!
06.09.2025 14:48 β π 7 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0I have never gotten a good look at one, much less a photo! Now that I think about it, I do believe I only had a single visual, and my other encounter was simply hearing the vocalization. You did GREAT.
05.09.2025 20:26 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Looking goooooooood!
05.09.2025 20:24 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0Fabulous sketches, Robert. I'm so impressed you can do this while watching the bird.
05.09.2025 15:28 β π 6 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Incredible photograph, Mark.
05.09.2025 15:26 β π 19 π 1 π¬ 1 π 0Sweet shot!
05.09.2025 15:24 β π 8 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Let me know next time. Thanks!
05.09.2025 15:23 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0I like the way it looks. The lighting and soft focus give the owl a spooky, seasonal appearance. I would say "WELL DONE!"
05.09.2025 00:02 β π 4 π 0 π¬ 2 π 0Took me a while...
04.09.2025 18:50 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0She died immediately, unfortunately. She was the most important person in my life, so it is another difficult loss. Life goes on, however.
04.09.2025 11:46 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0a black & white image showing two flamingos with their backs to the viewer. Both are standing in shallow water on one leg and the reflection gives the impression of extremely long legs. White spots on the water is insects and feathers.
A pair of sleeping Greater Flamingos at #ElHondo.
It didn't quite work out the way I had it in my mind but the reflection was fun anyway. #birds
Great photo!

01.09.2025 20:35 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0I occasionally see Northern Cardinals with no feathers on their head this time of year.
01.09.2025 19:39 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0Nice shot!
01.09.2025 19:31 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0Thank you. Great minds think alike, as the saying goes...
01.09.2025 15:52 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0How do you like the "Metrobolist" version of the album? I thought it was fascinating, but I didn't see it as an improvement over the original. I probably need to play it a few more times. I enjoy having both versions of a superb release.
01.09.2025 14:54 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0Thanks for the info.
01.09.2025 14:44 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0Large female spider hanging on its web with blurred flowers in the background. Spider has whitish head, black and yellow abdomen, and red and black legs.
Small male spider on his web looks like a skinny, drab, shrunken version of his female counterpart. Colors are pale reddish brown, off-white, and black.
I discovered two female Black-and-Yellow Garden Spiders in a flower bed where none had been all summer. Then I found the first male Black-and-Yellow Garden Spider I'd ever seen. He is much smaller than the females, with a body length of just over 1/4" compared to around an inch for the females.
01.09.2025 14:08 β π 6 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Large, striking green and black flying insect with beautiful transparent wings twice as long as its body. Overhead shot, more or less.

Dog-Day Cicada, which conveniently landed on my porch step and remained in place for photos.

01.09.2025 13:57 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0Close-up of metallic green wasp perched on a yellow flower petal. The wasp is covered in 'pinpoints' of very bright green coloration.
Tiny Cuckoo Wasp on Black-eyed Susan petal looks like it's covered in jewels.
01.09.2025 13:56 β π 9 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0The body count increased over the summer. My sister had a heart attack and my stepson, who has been in prison since 1990, died from cancer. We talked on the phone every two weeks. What a year...
01.09.2025 13:51 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0Sorry, I've been away awhile. My sister died and my stepson died. Unbelievable year so far.
01.09.2025 13:49 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0That is amazing! That coyote won't be surprising anyone...
13.07.2025 15:25 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Profile shot of tan fly with very long 'nose' like a cartoon horse. Wings have black stripes that aren't too visible from this angle.
I can nearly never not take a shot of a Scorpionfly. Small and harmless. The male's abdomen curls up to resemble a scorpion tail.
