See, this is why I've had a total sense of humour bypass about Americans making any kind of joke about British politics, food, culture, looks, anything. Your president is dictating what laws we have, what statements we can make, what jobs individuals can hold. This isn't joshing between peers.

when people complain that a story has โ€œtoo many digressionsโ€ I want to ask them whether perhaps the digressions ARE the story

"the Bad Faith Threshold" is a great coinage.

The first wave of comments on a post, from those who do actually follow you, is usually interesting or fun or both.

But the later waves are of scolds, humourless reply-guys, "sorry to be pedantics", "whatabouts", and "why are you insulting".

A review of Mega Man X's release on WiiWare.

Why have Mario and Sonic endured while Mega Man is close to being put in retirement? Is it because running right and shooting things has gone out of fashion, while running right and bouncing on heads hasn't?
Released in 1994, Mega Man took his time to make his SNES debut, but it was worth the wait. Set 100 years later, Mega Man X shook things up by giving the blue bot wall-jumping skills, a chargeable X-Buster arm cannon and new weapons upon completing each of the game's eight levels.
Some complained that it was too easy and, admittedly, it isn't as tough as Mega Man 2, but it's a challenge and a joy to play from beginning to end, as Mega Man comes up against some excellent enemies, including an ice-breathing penguin and a mandrill that attacks you with electricity. So good, it spawned eight sequels. Thrown in the main series plus Legends, Battle Network, and Zero, and he's starred in over 50 games. No wonder he's ready to hang up his blue boots.

European here, I was surprised recently when looking through old Official Nintendo Magazines to see their review of Mega Man X's WiiWare release that gives it a very positive score... but still contrives to frame it within the narrative of "there are too many Mega Man games"

Not my picture but my god this EXACTLY sums up why I'm so done with goddamn internet discourse. Everyone feels they have to have a take. It feels like people are seeking out negativity rather than just... enjoying what they do like.

I genuinely don't wanna be around people who act like this anymore

I'm being so real right now, learn how to engage in media as art and not a reflection of your own real life morals. consume things that make you uncomfortable and understand why it makes you uncomfortable. Don't just base yours and others morals standings on the media you consume.

Slightly crazy that it's cheaper to buy used copies of Galaxy 1 & 2 and a used Wii to play them on than buying the Switch edition of both games on Amazon

this is something you just have to live with if you are even barely well-known online; people make up elaborate stories about you in their heads. it will always happen and you cannot give a shit about it, only stomp on it if they try to spread these weird tales to anybody you actually know.

honestly its very obvious (to me anyway after many yrs) when ppl want to take part IN fandom/community and be just one piece of the greater whole, vs ppl who want the fandom community to surround them solely.

It's always easier not to think for oneself. Find a nice safe hierarchy and settle in. Don't make changes, don't risk disapproval, don't upset your syndics. It's always easiest to let yourself be governed.

It's very interesting that Dr. Who deliberately avoids mentioning his part in stopping the Dalek Invasion of Earth

Plasticine would probably be your best bet. It's similar to Play-Doh, but doesn't dry out.
