Probably my favourite noir. Robert Ryan is electric. Ida Lupino is luminous. The setting is grit, followed by ice.
Just wonderful.

She/her. Pet-lover, sleepaholic, bibliophile. Generally bewildered, but give me a fresh cuppa and I'm fine. Adores Good Omens and oodles of other stuff. Household god: Daffy Duck

I rewatched this a few weeks ago and was surprised at how bored I was. Robert Walker runs away with this movie in his fine two-tone shoes. I'm ashamed to say I wished Farley Granger had the violent end instead.
15.09.2025 19:54 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Truly masterful film - in my top ten. Bogart has never been better.
15.09.2025 19:51 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0I'll never forget the first time I saw this. I had never seen Victor Mature do anything that didn't involve epic biblical sandals before, and he is so good in this.
As for Tommy Udo....*shudders*
Chandler's script is just pure gold dust - lyrical, wry, sensual and lethal. One if my noir favourites.
15.09.2025 19:39 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Noir as fantasy and dark poetry. Amazing.
15.09.2025 19:36 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Absolutely, the eggs! Also, the predatory pacing around the bed, as Diane Taylor slowly wakes to the awful realisation of what kind of man she is with. Cady just winds himself up into a rage fueled by disgust. It is terrifying.
15.09.2025 19:34 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0I thought he gave an extraordinary performance. It moved me deeply. It upset me, in fact - that level of personal anguish. I don't think I could watch it again. It was THAT good if you know what I mean.
12.09.2025 05:48 β π 4 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0One of my favourite films. Unique, haunting, faerie dark, exquisite. π€π
26.07.2025 15:51 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Wow! This is so beautiful. Swallows are my favourite bird - watching them, listening to their chatter, brings me profound joy.
Thank you so much for sharing this lovely picture. π
No! No turtlenecks! I will be discombobulated for the rest of the day.
Well, that's torn it...
Oh, you are here! Welcome! π΄σ §σ ’σ ³σ £σ ΄σ Ώ I am over on the west coast, and it is pretty chilly. Make sure you put some layers on π Have a wonderful trip! π₯°

Oh, hot diggity!
As with GO, I am late to this party, but I think I'm gonna have a big bundle of situationship fun.
Last night I watched the last episode of season 6.
Will there be more!!?
I have just finished watching What We Do in the Shadows and am obsessed. Any moots? Fic recs? Nandor and Guillermo is a thing, right?
Oh, I'm in love with them all! π

On Dangerous Ground
A Streetcar Named Desire
On the Waterfront
Some Like it Hot
The picture features a Papo model tyrannosaurus rex, stalking towards the camera belligerently. Its jaws are wide open in a roar, and its sharp teeth are prominent. The dinosaur is an olive green shade with a paler belly. His pink tongue is visible through the gaping maw. He is lit from the front, emphasising his fearsome visage and predatory stance. His name, apparently, is Steve.
Meet Steve, my spirit animal.
Steve says hi.
Kinda.
I downloaded this 2 weeks ago and am obsessed. I saw a swift today and sat grinning like a loon for ten minutes.
*shakes head but smiles softly*
The problem is not with David or Pedro but with a subset of rather rabid fans. These people are functioning from the third ring of Saturn and should be ignored or blocked.

24.05.2025 22:20 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0This was me today. I was so fucking primal that I scared myself. Certain people were behaving like assholes and my inner werewolf was trying to rip its way to somebody else's throat.
But, thanks to some incredible self-control, no-one died.
I am now anaesthetising the wolf with brandy. It's OK. πΊ
URGENT: if anyone has seen or found a huge (A2) sized folder in the parking lot of MCM London, Excel Arena please let me know. We unfortunately left all our A3 prints behind as we were going back home and this is financially devastating.
Please also RT so this can reach further.
I love how Crowley never takes his eyes off Aziraphale and never laughs at his clumsiness even when the shop owner tries to make eye contact with him to share his incredulity. π

20.05.2025 10:06 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 2 π 0A piece of baltic amber from Poland. It is about 36mm x 28mm at its longest and widest points. It is an irregular shape: rounded at one end, widening, and then tapering to a point at the other. It is backlit by the sun and displays a strong swirl of gold and orange tones throughout the gem. There is evidence of some organic matter within the piece, but it also conveys a sense of clarity. The whole effect is liquid warmth.

I acquired a lovely piece of baltic amber today. It looks like a completely different gem from every angle. A drop of whisky warmth that is at least 40 million years old.
Or, as #GoodOmens fans will tell you, a joke that the palaeontologists haven't figured out yet...π
Just wanted to share my absolute joy at finding the soundtrack to "In Search of the Trojan War" on YouTube. I haven't heard this in over thirty years and, my god, I remember ALL of it! Amazing work by Terry Oldfield! β€οΈππΌπ΅

I checked and my name didn't come up on the search, so I suppose that's good news. The whole thing is so awful. I'm sorry you guys have been targeted and robbed by this trash.π€¬
13.05.2025 14:40 β π 2 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Thank you so much. Since I started watching Andor, I have slightly moved away from Good Omens and back into Star Wars. This is a crossover that I desperately need π
