“Deeply wailing” or “Deeply grieving” in v2?
“Deeply wailing” better suits the poetry, but if poorly executed leaves the congregation sounding like a pack of sickly coyotes.

One can’t respond to this because the OP has either turned off comments or limited them to people he knows.
But if this is their “single most consistent moderation policy,” why is it that explicit death threats against trans people and their allies result in no action even when reported?
What utter bull$**+.
Stewart Johnston says the Canadian game is awesome and that he wants to protect what makes the Canadian game unique, all the while pushing unpopular rule changes that strip away many of the things that make the Canadian game unique.

In some cases it has meant explicit death threats. While simply wishing for vague consequences against someone actively campaigning to erase trans people rates a ban.
14.11.2025 16:22 — 👍 0 🔁 0 💬 0 📌 0It doesn’t help the credibility of moderation that where one crosses the line is arbitrarily different depending on who the threat (or alleged threat) is directed against.
Fairly explicit threats against trans people don’t seem to violate the moderators’ community standards in quite the same way.
Billionaires are a failure of policy.
Trillionaires are a failure of decency.
Having moved around in some high level spaces over the years (though not as many as you I think) I occasionally wonder if mediocrity isn’t a requirement for those who rise to the top.

But there could be other motives, as you say.

By all means, thank me for my service if you must. But please, don’t just thank me with your words. Thank me with your commitment to justice, inclusion, and peace.

... while once beloved children’s authors deny well documented Nazi crimes. Hope is replaced with hate, and the world is a darker place.
The best thanks you can give me or any other veteran is to push back against the current tide of hate, to push back against those who demonize “the other,”...

But here I sit, in this time and in this place, in a world where the arc of the moral universe appears to be bending in the wrong direction, when the lessons of Nuremberg seem to have been forgotten, where democratic norms are bent, then broken, then trampled, . . .

Of course, I could not have known with certainty when I signed on in 1977, and again in 1991, that my career would pass so peacefully. Service is service, and I served.

Heck, those two weeks were a routine fisheries patrol where we were live testing if Naval Cooperation and Guidance to Shipping doctrines and procedures could be usefully applied in a fisheries context. Hardly the stuff of heroes.

I suppose some of it is my own conscience. My 25 years of service was all Reserve time. Apart from two weeks in 2004 aboard HMCS ST. JOHN’S, I never served in an operational context, never in combat, never even in conflict.

It certainly isn’t that I in any way doubt the sincerity of the vast majority of folk who say it to me, and to others. The 99 percent mean nothing but respect and gratitude I am sure, the handful of grandstanding politicians here and elsewhere, who piously thank us for our service . . .
I don’t know why, exactly, I’ve always been uncomfortable with “Thank you for your service.” Another Remembrance Day has given me an opportunity to reflect on the question.

So just to clarify, @safety.bsky.app, while it is perfectly acceptable to advocate violence against LGBTQ2S+ people and their allies on Bluesky (must be, you never suspend anyone for that), it is not at all acceptable to riff off a Johnny Cash reference.

It’s clear the inept Keir Starmer has to go, but there is also no question that Wes Streeting would be multiple times worse.
It would be like replacing Donald Trump with Stephen Miller.

It will be interesting to see who follows the Mamdani example (affordability, protect the marginalized, if you will), the Spanberger example (affordability, don’t mention the marginalized), and the Newsom / Buttigieg / Klein / Carville (affordability, throw the the marginalized under the bus.
