I believe the price of a book (QP) is kept about equal to the cost of a movie ticket. I suppose they are considered equivalent entertainment.

My experience was that booklovers had a monthly budget and they buy two, three or four books including remainders etc until they spend their budget.
Any how, publishers decided that you’d pay $14.95 for a QP John Grisham novel and it was a better deal for them than pushing a $9.99 MMPB

Think about the bookstore - 30% margin on a $7.99 MMPB was $2.40. Even a 25% margin on a QP at $15.95 is $4.00.

No. It matters - those three points at Anfield might be the difference - away points are in the bag. We start getting wins at home and Forest are safe..

What is the plan here? Feels like total chaos and everyone blaming Dyche for player failures. How do we fight relegation with a series of manager changes?

A hastily arranged line-up that was vulnerable at the back - we have to forget this disaster and move on - and hope the injured return to the starting eleven.

As a former bookseller it is annoying that many high schools have fifty year and older classics on reading lists that are difficult for today’s students to relate to. Catcher in the Rye was written in 1951. Lord of the Flies was published in 1954.

No - best starting lineup.

Cheryl has written three genres of books under different pen names but the mystery series was the successful genre over the last twenty years.
We are still looking for a publisher.

My apologies - being published is my dream too. I was happy my wife had a successful writing career but I cowrote a SF novel with her last year and I’m frustrated that nobody will take it seriously because it wasn’t her genre. Didn’t think writers got typecast too.

Cheryl had a major NY publisher because they liked her mystery series - all 41 books. And they were profitable for everyone involved.

Aren’t all authors β€˜indie’?
My β€˜indie’ author wife had her books sold by Barnes and Noble and independent bookstores. There is no segregation and frankly the orders from B&N and even Amazon are the backbone of that first printing run.

Yep!

We beat ourselves, bro! MGW missed a simple penalty and the ball bounced off Yate's leg for the only goal. It was mostly the B team.
Europe is not important. Results in the Prem. are what matters now.

We will not forget - when they lose power - they will ALL be held accountable. From the White House to Congress to the Supreme Court, these enablers will be tried and convicted of treasonous acts.

Too soon to panic. Would not say Spurs or Crystal Palace are much safer than Leeds. We won at Anfield and we have played Arsenal twice so we can stay up with a few decent results.

Agreed. Most billionaires get what they want because many in an area are apathetic until the deal is sealed. People are busy and forget that decisions are made legally behind their backs all the time.

Trump will say anything, do anything to distract from the Epstein Files being released.

Residents oppose - so are they registered voters and do they vote? I dislike billionaires and their grandious plans but they understand the system and manipulate it because non-voting residents don’t bother to support the right candidates.

Not likely. Just suprised it made the top ten. Not much real drama and character development.
Very predictable veteran racer returns to F1 and makes waves with his cunning disregard for rules etc.

Terrible match with half-hearted effort and a horredous own goal and awful scuffed penalty kick followed by a stupid red card.

22.01.2026 22:02 β€” πŸ‘ 1    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 0    πŸ“Œ 0

Simple - the ball hits his shoulder and rolls down his arm in a natural position. There is no attempt to prevent a goal or meet the minimum requirements for a penalty. How much longer is the constant wrestling in the penalty area going to go unpunished?

Awkward for these sycophants - politicians who hope to bask in the warmth of Trump's embrace after an election. Is it not clear that MAGA is 100% about US domination and all other allies submitting to Trumpland? There are no 'equals' in Trump's sad vision - it is all about power or military might.

This is not just an American tragedy - the blatant disgust for NATO and all international agreements and organizations is destroying the world order. Does Trump have any boundaries? Canada, Mexico are considered freeloaders. Europeans are ungrateful grandchildren that he loathes.

Pre-orders are a gauge of demand like advanced sales of movie tickets. I have attended hundreds of book-signings as host and with an author. Rule #1 buy the DAMN book! Turning up with a backlist of the author’s books to be signed doesn’t help the bookstore justify the work to get the author there.

Don’t overlook Barnes & Noble as a source for your books. Indie bookstores do not generate enough orders to get publishers to print your title in any quantity.
They are essential to the business of physical book publishing.
