I'm right on the cusp of making that decision myself for the same reasons. It's a hard one, is it the right one? I'm ready to say 'fuck it' too.

Today I became an elected member of the Society of Wood Engravers, a reminder of the imminent entry deadline for the 2026 annual exhibition. Shown, engravings selected by SWE in 2023-5 and a probable entry for 2026. Good news in hard times.

I'll address my "water profligacy" when the water profiteers have addressed their trillions of leaks; or a grown up government has addressed renationalisation. Until then I won't reward attempts to pass the buck by obscenely high-earning management. Sorry.

A wide path through a mature pine forest. Sunlight filters through the canopy and falls across the pine straw that covers all of the forest floor.

Ageing is an attunement to time.

This subtle pause, the daytrippers have returned to their cars, the birds yet to begin their conversations with the night, a downy silence, the warmth of summer trapped beneath the trees, footsteps muted in the scents of pine.

Breathe… do not count the breaths.

The ‘Haunted Paper’ exhibition at Dorothy on Jamaica Street opened a week ago. Thanks to everyone who’s visited so far. It’s on until September 19th, Monday to Friday 9-5. Come and have a look at the Ghost Town and Wild Twin notebooks and collages if you’re in Liverpool!

In all my plans to visit this exhibition I never thought of it as an act of communing with ghosts. Now I'm wondering whether my own, very personal, ghosts will travel there with me?

The Haunted Paper exhibition is now open at Dorothy, Jamaica Street in the Baltic Triangle Liverpool. Thanks to everyone who came last night to the opening. Lots of you! And some great conversations. The exhibition is on until September 19th, weekdays. I would love you to see it.

Very much looking forward to getting down to Liverpool for this exhibition of Jeff's collage and writings.

My exhibition 'Haunted Paper' opens at Dorothy, Liverpool next Wednesday August 6th. The Private View is from 5pm to 7pm.

I'd love to see this disparity in funding broken down between the NE and Cumbria, the latter really is the "forgotten North". I guess it would be too much to expect any kind of 'trickle across' of funding from Newcastle to the NW?
