I remember when a place in brooklyn had a 25 cent wing special, I don't think they do that anymore.

The problem with Carvill's piece is they're learning extra wrong lessons. It's true that Dems need to focus on things like affordability and against the rich, but you don't need to complain about minorities too. Mamdani stayed on message, he didn't focus on trans rights, he just supported them.

It’s really simple: stick up for your beliefs and call out conservatives' lies. For more details, feel free to read and share my article and thread, and subscribe to my substack, "Explaining Crazy". 🧡9/9

I guess health care for everyone but trans people is important. Kamala’s mistake was trying to dodge the question by saying β€œI will follow the law,” instead of saying β€œI don’t think people in prison or immigrant detention should die because they don’t have health care.” 🧡8/9

Faz Shakir argued that while candidates should answer questions if they get them from Bernie or a Medicare for all organization, they should respond to them, but if they get one like the one from ACU, they should β€œtear that up, you not respond to it.” 🧡7/9

But even looking at just people in prison or immigrant detention, people need to understand that gender-affirming surgeries aren’t always a 1-and-done deal. Sometimes they need follow-up surgeries to stop infections and other issues, unless they risk further health issues, pain, and even death. 🧡6/9

Not to mention that β€œcomprehensive treatment associated with gender transition” isn’t just surgery, it's Mental Health Support, fertility issues, and other primary care support. Some might argue that trans people being able to have insurance as treatment associated with gender transition. 🧡5/9

This is the actual question. It’s not asking about undocumented immigrants or people in prison, but anyone who gets their health insurance from the government. Anyone on Medicaid, Medicare, Veterans, the disabled, people in poverty, foster care children, Native Americans, and federal employees. 🧡4/9

I've seen people bring this up, but they don’t often say the actual question, just a fragment of it from their memory, focused just on the prison/immigrant detention part of the question. It's irresponsible; the Republicans will always find ways to lie about trans people. We don’t need to help. 🧡3/9

During one panel, Liz Smith brought up the Trump ad that said β€œKamala Harris is for They/Them, Trump is for you,” pointing to an ACLU question, β€œDo you support gender reassignment surgeries for I think uh undocumented immigrants, in detention or people in prison?” - Liz Smith’s words. 🧡2/9

Maybe instead of accepting conservatives lies, point them out. At CrookedCon, a panel run by Jon Favreau with Jen Psaki and other Democratic strategists talked about how to beat Trump and MAGA.

I wrote a piece on how the Democrats need to stop helping conservatives lie about trans issues. Earlier this month, I went to Crooked Con, an event @crooked.com hosted, in Washington, DC. While I found hope that Dems won’t push out people like Mamdani, one conversation frustrated me. 🧡1/9

On this Trans Day of Remembrance, we remember the bright and courageous trans people whose lives were stolen by hatred. Their absence is felt across our city.

We will honor them by building a New York where every trans person can live safely, fully and freely.

"Cancel Culture" is dead? I know this sounds crazy, but I think β€œCancel Culture” is dead.

My brain has been scattered the past week or so, got a little behind. This is my new article about how what people thought cancel culture wasn't really what people thought, and whatever it was, might be over.

It's pretty convenient that they only released emails that painted Trump as a pedophile, but didn't release any emails showing him as a brave and handsome man. Pretty. Convenient.

They not only find ways to be racist, but they also find ways to make a post that is both racist, and technically could have been more racist.

As many have pointed out, Mamdani didn't stand apart from our trans brothers and sisters. He didn't play the "Gee, gosh, it sure is complicated," milquetoast moderate card. And he crushed.

The way forward is together, not over the bodies of our own.

People think that people not wanting to engage in their views or beliefs one place as never wanting to engage with them ever, because they are used to everywhere being for them all the time. Sometimes some places aren't for you some times. That's okay.

People confuse not wanting to see other views in one place or time as not wanting to see them at all. I check Fox News, Twitter, and other right leaning sites to see views "other" views, but it's nice to go to a site where I only see left leaning views, to know what other leftists are talking about.

I just saw an ad for an external charger that said "Have you noticed that wealthy people in Shanghai never carry phone chargers?" and all I thought was, yes I have. All my friends have. We spend hours talking about how wealthy people in Shanghai never carry phone chargers. HOW DO THEY DO IT?
