Leading Prison Landings: The Unlocked Guide to Jailcraft is a training manual for transformative relational practice in prisons, supporting frontline staff to radically improve outcomes for those in their care and ultimately help break cycles of reoffending.

Prison officers are working in some of the toughest public sector environments, building relationships with some of the hardest to reach people. They need and deserve high-quality training materials to take their development into their own hands and have the greatest impact.

We are delighted that we can now share our uniquely successful model with anyone for the first time, ensuring all prison officers have access to the best development opportunities to improve their practice and build transformative relationships with those in their care.

They explained how this step-by-step guide for effective relational practice has the potential to transform training for a workforce that is so often forgotten, working with some of the hardest to reach people in some of the toughest public sector environments.

During the event, we heard from the co-authors of the book, @natashaporter.bsky.social and Harry Fletcher-Wood, as well as others including Jenny Louis - Governor of HMP Belmarsh - and Charlie Taylor - HM Chief Inspector of Prisons - who outlined the role this book could play in our prisons.

By making this resource available to all for the first time, our aim is to not only empower prison officers to take their development into their own hands, but to also provide a blueprint for other public sector staff to support some of the hardest to reach populations.

We are delighted to be partnering with @steplab.bsky.social as we launch our new instructional coaching model for prison officers, covering more than 20 techniques to support new and experienced staff to become high-performing leaders and build transformative relationships with prisoners.

We were thrilled to read so many Committee members and expert witnesses highlighting the success of our unique approach to recruiting, training and developing outstanding prison officers which is supporting staff to transform the lives of the prisoners in their care.

The House of Lords’ Justice and Home Affairs Committee has today published its “Better prisons: less crime” report, recognising the impact that the Unlocked programme is having, developing high-performing prison leaders who are driving real change on the landings.

Our MPOs play a vital role in our programme, working with our participants on the frontline of some of the toughest prisons in the country, supporting them to have the greatest possible impact, transforming prisoners' lives and breaking cycles of reoffending.

Those with lived experience of the justice system play a vital role on our programme from curriculum design through to recruitment and training. We also spend a lot of time speaking to prisoners to understand the impact that our participants are having.

We exist to break cycles of reoffending, and we believe that the way in which you do that is through prison officers. Prison officers are the agents of change in prisons, able to build transformative relationships with prisoners, changing the lives of those in their care.
