Yep. People are realizing they’re further left than they thought. I’m shocked at the pushback on funding CPD, not because they should be funded, but because most USians have been told that cops = safety. Seeing ISP and CPD protect ICE and attack protestors has been enlightening for some I’m sure

Yeah, I think the general population is realizing at varying speeds that we’ve been living through the decline since Reagan. There’s still a lot of “but that’s against the rules!” going on, vs realizing that the rules as they stand got us here.

Agreed, just my opinion too. This rot was going to come out at some point, and the longer we held the centrist line without huge reform the longer they had to prepare and become more adept. This sucks, and we tried to prevent it, but the rot has always been there and now we *have* to deal with it.

Most smaller restaurants (for example) are supplied by Sysco, UNFI, Gordon, McClane, USFoods, sometimes slightly smaller distributors. Might be different in Canada but in the states, most restaurants are just a front-end for $50B+ companies.

If you think the owners of UPS, FedEx, airlines, and Amazon will show support for them, you’re high. The workers, absolutely but they don’t have any power. Pride and responsibility aren’t going to matter when they can’t pay their rent.

This. A general strike would be effective but it’s a very big ask of hundreds of millions of people. ATC walk out requires about 14,000 people currently not getting paid and heavily burned out to say “fuck it, I’m not getting paid anyway” at the busiest time of the year.

It’s all the same system. No ATCs, no air travel period. His largest donors would be effectively grounded, as would their business. Can’t imagine the billionaires will love the idea of not being able to flit off to their 8th home in Aspen for the holidays, and it would cripple air freight too.

It honestly seems like the fastest solution headed in to the holidays. The entire economy relies on them, and no ATCs would cripple shipping of goods (UPS, FedEx,USPS) and impact some of the regimes biggest donors in their busiest quarter.

Ok but Reagan was a *very* different time. People don’t realize that ATCs don’t just manage commercial flights, the whole economy relies on them. Hell yeah, Pelosi is a huge culprit in how we got here and it irritates me to see everyone just absolutely glazing her.
