not to be too woke but the focus on "being held accountable" is tacitly carceral

this is your mission. our pedophile president needs you to jump out of a helicopter to kidnap a head of state and his wife so some oil ceos can make a lot of money. we’ll be watching from a resort in florida that still serves wedge salad and checking how many retweets we get. good luck soldier

my experiences with people who have printed out my posts is that if there's one it's a good sign. but if they start printing out many, that's a bad sign.

my friends tell me that eating microplastics, and bpa in general, weren't as effective as actually getting on estrogen but not trivial either. maybe worth it but probably not worth the other health costs.

I am not. There are power-law distributions in branch utilization, so the first ATMs have the largest effect. The doubling of tellers from 1975 to 1985 is part of their effect.

Online banking creates teller-like jobs that aren't captured because they're not at branches; it's not apples to apples.

The consensus in the literature is in fact that ATMs drove an increase in teller jobs, as the reduction in telling activities allowed bank tellers to instead move into a more sales-like roll, and lighter bank branches to expand into more locations. Please note the absolutely massive 1970β†’1980 jump.

once again i would like to point out that contrary to expectations, ATMs did not reduce bank teller employment, with ATMs introduced in the 70s and bank tellers peaking in 2005.

bank tellers did see qualitative changes in the job, however. and online banking did later reduce bank teller employment.

either the kyc hurdles from the banking partner end up much worse than paypal, with major withdrawals constantly raising SARs, or someone systematically violates AML.

and if you want to compete at violating AML, you should not be located in the US

easy times lead to RAM surplus
RAM surplus leads to bad software
bad software leads to hard times
hard times lead to RAM shortage
RAM shortage leads to good software
good software leads to easy times

- volition and reflection augmentation

- serendipity as a service

- step tracker for the soul

- community-based structured experimentation

- local-first research interface (probably currently involves a 512GB Mac Studio, an DGX Spark, and a massive RAID setup with all of Anna's Archive)
