I feel like we need more roads and streets to get bidirectional paths on both sides. This exists in some places here, like on Normandale Boulevard and Cedar Grove Parkway, but there's plenty of other roadways+streets where there's enough space to fit them on both sides.

Finally biking underneath the I-494 Orange Line busway underpass, I have come to appreciate how shockingly long it is.

Continuing from the Edina Promenade, Nine Mile Creek trail run right up against the border of Richfield and Edina along Xerxes Ave, before crossing the entirety of Richfield along 75th & 76th streets.

Time to fix my lack of posting with a quick tour of the Edina Promenade. An example of how to integrate regional trail planning into suburban infill development. Connecting into the Nine Mile Creek regional trail, there is neat developments in this section through Edina, like the Centennial Lakes.

What's great about this, is you can actually see apples-to-apples street design comparisons with other cities building out bike infrastructure, and the natural progression of what their next rebuilds will look like in the future.

A stormwater curb extension on Grand Avenue, the current extension exists so pedestrians aren't obscured by parked cars and also forms pinch points on the intersection so cars need to slow down a bit more to go through, and it is also full of plants and flowers to help absorb stormwater and purify it

A pretty basic roundabout that has been retrofitted into an intersection on Connecticut Street, there are four old cut up super pipes painted fun colors with plants in the middle to prevent cars from driving directly through the intersection, you need to slow down and go around them to transit the intersection.

A less rudimentary more elaborate traffic circle that has been retrofitted into an intersection on Cherokee Street, it prevents cars from driving straight through the intersection.

The city has been aggressively building effective but inexpensive traffic calming solutions over the last few years, most of these are pretty new.

Went cycling in Richfield, and while the infrastructure is already lovely, I am glad to see the city continuously improve with more bike+ped infrastructure improvements. Found this section of bumped out crossings, likely to be made permanent in a couple years, with the same red paint as on 73rd St!

I am optimistic for future TOD as the Orange Line has already been pushing more suburban infill development. I see plans shifting towards more residential+mixed use as other suburban office TOD plans turned into residential ala South Loop. We could have a future transit accessible maze too! 😂
