Photograph of a woman's bare midriff, illustrating a first-hand account of fertility treatments. She is holding a surgical needle in her left hand and a cotton swab in her right and wearing a cropped top and low-rise white leggings.
โI had both an academic self, competently working, and a private self, attending a PhD supervision immediately after finding out my #IVF cycle had failed.โ

I graduated from @uniofnottingham.bsky.social in French, Spanish, German and Portuguese back in 2005. How many working class Brits can say that they became fluent to university level in five languages? This TRANSFORMED my life and world view. Shambolic. Short-sighted. Devastating.

I am hearing that @uniofnottingham.bsky.social is suspending (i.e shutting down) *all modern language courses* in 2026-27. One of the largest departments in the UK. A shocking short sighted move that damages regional and national prospects @britishacademy.bsky.social @hetanshah.bsky.social

โYour basis to live is checked at each and every stepโ: Indiaโs ID system divides opinion

Excellent Guardian piece on Aadhar, India's digital ID system, that captures the dilemma extremely well. Digital-by-default methods create huge convenience for some, double-down on social exclusion for others, and it is easy for their scope to rapidly expand www.theguardian.com/world/2025/o...
