There are all sorts of examples of sharp edges an average computer user shouldn't have to deal with. That said, I've been a Linux fan for 20 yrs and no longer use Windows. And I think everyone should just bite the Linux bullet nonetheless, and tell MS where to shove it, because the abuse is so bad.

Just installing things is a major head-scratcher for normal people. Maybe you use the GUI thing in the start menu, maybe a google search tells you to type apt-get. More likely, you go to the website and dl a DEB or an RPM (what?), or you maybe you get a flatpak, appimage, or God forbid a .tar.gz!?

I still don't see any momentum in the Linux/open source community to really make Linux welcoming for Windows refugees. Someone still needs to find significant resources to actually polish things GUI/UX-wise and bugfix-wise so that non-geeks have a good time.

imo non-pixel fonts look fine in pixely games if you pick the right one, and my eyes would thank you for the extra legibility

Now that you point that out, I agree! I also think there's a difference between a "programmer art" aesthetic and a "retro-inspired" aesthetic, and its very cool to see a block game going for the latter instead of the former
