This decision is more than policy: as Public Health Commissioner Robbie Goldstein said, “Massachusetts will not allow ideology to override evidence.” This is a responsible and clear-eyed stand for medical science, evidence, and the health of our communities.

Residents can follow the Department of Public Health’s (DPH) guidance based on facts not fiction and vaccines recommended by DPH will remain covered by Massachusetts insurance companies. We also thank the leaders of Massachusetts’ health insurers who strongly support the Governor’s action.

We applaud the strong leadership of Governor Maura Healey, Public Health Commissioner Robbie Goldstein, Secretary of Health and Human Services Kiame Mahaniah, Senate President Karen E. Spilka, House Speaker Ronald J. Mariano, and Insurance Commissioner Michael Caljouw.

The Governor’s recent directive on vaccines ensures that Massachusetts will lead the way in public health. We’re proud that Massachusetts is standing up for science and evidence-based medical care.

Is Narcan® safe? Yes! There are very few risks associated with using Narcan®, but Narcan® is temporary. It is still essential that you call for emergency services!

Monitor the person, and apply a second dose the same way if they are still unresponsive. Then, carefully roll the person on their side into the ‘recovery’ position, follow the emergency operator instructions, and wait for emergency services.

31.08.2025 13:58 — 👍 0    🔁 0    💬 1    📌 0

If the person is still unresponsive, call 911 immediately. Provide support to the person’s neck, tilt their head back, and gently insert the tip of the Narcan® spray into one nostril before pressing firmly down on the plunger to apply the dose.

31.08.2025 13:58 — 👍 1    🔁 0    💬 1    📌 0

What is Narcan® and how to use it? Recognize the signs of an overdose, check for consciousness by shaking and shouting at the person, and grind your knuckles into their chest bone for 5-10 seconds if they are unresponsive.

31.08.2025 13:58 — 👍 0    🔁 0    💬 1    📌 0

How should you respond to a potential overdose? Check for danger & call 911. Tell 911 your location, & stay on the line while following their instructions. If able, stay with the person until help arrives. Other first aid depends on the drugs causing the overdose, & how the person is responding.

31.08.2025 13:58 — 👍 0    🔁 0    💬 1    📌 0

Can you spot an overdose? Look for chest pain, severe headaches, breathing difficulties, paranoia, agitation, and/or confusion, making snoring & gurgling sounds, or being unresponsive or unconscious. Exhibiting just 1 or 2 of these signs can indicate the need to seek immediate emergency help.

Stonewall Inn with Pride flag. Stonewall was a rebellion. Pride is protest. Our joy is resistance.

Today is the 56th anniversary of the Stonewall Rebellion.

Today we honor those who were there that night and in the days to follow- our trans and queer ancestors who built a powerful liberation movement.

Today we re-commit to never backing down in the ongoing fight for our freedom.
