Excellent thread which echoes the concerns we have in @hounslowcouncil.bsky.social regarding cross pavement charging. Our EV charging strategy focuses instead on delivering an additional 2,000 charge points across the borough and we are not allowing the installation of charging gullies at this time

You can't argue with the data - LTNs are officially saving lives
Itβs a truth many struggle to accept, but in London cars have become killers.
LTNs save lives. A lack of LTNs, or removal of them, means a higher rate of injuries and lives lost, and lives and families damaged irreparably.

Cartoon: People in cars think g βif these people would just take the bus, I could be home by now.β
Hereβs some common sense for you. If you want or need to drive in cities, your problem isnβt people choosing walking, biking & public transit because of smart, safe infrastructure. Itβs all those people being forced to drive big cars instead, stuck in traffic in front of you. #TheTRUTHaboutTraffic

βThe efficacy of the measure can no longer be credibly questioned, so itβs time we started implementing them across London and at pace. With so many lives at stake we cannot afford not to.β

The aggregate effect of rainwater gardens, swales, and street trees on biodiversity, heatwave mitigation, and surface water absorption, and mental health and wellbeing is enormous.
Getting them into every city, town, & village in the U.K should be a strategic national priority.

Londonβs low-traffic zones βcut deaths and injuries by more than a thirdβ
Exclusive: Study also finds no change in number of casualties on roads just outside low-traffic neighbourhoods
βLTNs have led to considerable reductions in road traffic injuries inside their boundaries for all road users β from pedestrians and cyclists to drivers [while] concerns about nearby main roads becoming more dangerous arenβt supported by the evidence.β

Londonβs low-traffic zones βcut deaths and injuries by more than a thirdβ
Exclusive: Study also finds no change in number of casualties on roads just outside low-traffic neighbourhoods
NEW: Big study of low-traffic neighbourhoods in London suggest they cut road injuries and deaths by more than a third within their boundaries with no apparent negative safety effect on nearby roads. This feels a *major* boost for proponents of such schemes.

The report's authors calculate that creating the LTNs prevented more than 600 road injuries that would have otherwise taken place, including 100 involving death or serious injury. These are quite hard statistics to argue against.

Ifind your post offensive. People dont do their research. Well what about you ?
This summer is no different than what we had in 1975, not the only year the temperature soared.!
Watch Joe Rogan roasting Bernie
Sanders about climate change. Also blame Sadiq Khan for the temperature in the streets. Shutting down all the back roads, installing gigantic cycle lanes & bus islands blocking the roads. It's ridiculous, cars idling in traffic on highstreets.
It's taking an hour for a 10 minute journey.
Absolutely bonkers if anyone believes this is helpful for traffic chaos, it created traffic chaos.
And of course the driver is always targeted.
I think the government think all car owners have money trees at the end of their garden.
Khan doesn't care, he roles around
London
In a gas guzzling motorcade.
I'm struggling to put the video up of joe Rogan, I'll put it up on my own post.

My council is hiking on street parking charges, inc shifting to emissions-based pricing. I posted a long message on NextDoor explaining the rules around what parking revenue can be spent on at the local authority, & noting that the anti campaign is coordinated by a climate denial group.
