First migraine in 4 months today so instead of reading a whole book like I planned, I'm reading bits on my kindle 2 pages at a time. Also I feel like a bag of rocks.

This was a soft DNF for me. I kept expecting trauma to get revealed (spoiler: it doesn't) and I think I would have liked it more had I known that. Check & Mate will always be it for me.

I read half of Yeonnam-Dong's Smiley Laundromat by Kim Jiyun last night. Can't wait to get more into this sort of cozy lit that is cross-generational, makes place a character, gives animals almost literal voice, and has a day-in-the-life plot of interconnected short stories. So uplifting.
