I also LOVE the acoustic CD 4!! Which I think somehow isn't available on recent iterations of the boxed set?? My only beef, as an studio nerd, is that as opposed to the gorgeous new acoustic version of Free, he used the pickup/DI for all the acoustic tracks on Crystal Ball. Ah well, nitpicking...

Crystal Ball itself being one of the weirdest, coolest, funkiest, best (?) Prince tunes - ever! (imho...). Or, is it really a Camille tune??

Love Come, although some of the songs leave me flat on this record. Also, production a little too high tech. But Let It Go is one of the great Prince songs...

Always hated Spotify. Initially for sound quality (shitty) and payments to musicians (peanuts). And now I know it's not just me who is mystified by how hard it is to find ALBUMS on Spotify! Tidal is way better. The sound quality is now similar between the two, but Tidal respects the album.

If I had time I'd try to grab as much as I could from the 1982 section also...

Parade blew my mind top to bottom (certain substances helped) although the French-inflected songs took a little longer. I made a mix tape replacing the album tracks with the 12" versions and that was KILLER!

There's a case to be made that 1986 was "peak Prince" (Parade, Crystal Ball, starting work on Sign o the Times...) I'm of a certain age and I remember exactly when I first listened to every album.

Yup. Genius. And if I'm not mistaken, I do believe I read that that basic tracks for the first three songs were recorded in one continuous take, Christoper Tracy, New Position and I Wonder U, which is totally insane... (I'm guessing he did the drums first?)
