I am genuinely curious how many other countries tax within their borders. In Canada they just decided to remove 'most' of the interprovince (i.e., intracountry) taxes. Is this really a thing elsewhere?
(And we'll still be paying tax on alcohol and food from a different province?)

Not if it's for a project that doesn't yet have specific funding. We don't have (or many of us do not have) personal research funds. So if I want to do something exploratory, it's my own money, if I don't manage to get some other travel grant.

There really ought to be conference fee insurance.

Meanwhile, #ptbokaw, there is no Liberal party platform on the candidate website nor on the general party website. I can find out how to be a candidate myself, but not what the candidate promises to do. Why::::::::.

I'm not usually one to @ strangers but seriously, @ptbondp.bsky.social , if I go through the candidates website as linked on elections Canada and try to click through to the platform , I get a broken link. (Is it 'Priorities'? On Safari it gives an error; on Firefox it's not even a clickable link).

Every election for the last 15 years I have been able to eliminate 2/3 parties I usually consider simply because THERE IS NO PLATFORM AVAILABLE, before I even ask whether I agree with it. How can this utterly minimum requirement be so hard??
